Ex-Indian opener Virender Sehwag has hit out at the selectors and team management for ignoring senior pacer Mohammed Shami.

India were penalized for maintaining a slow over rate in the Asia Cup 2022 match against Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium.

The Men in Blue were forced to have five fielders in the 30-yard circles as a penalty due to bowlers and regular fielding changes by captain Rohit Sharma.

According to new ICC rules, the bowling team will have to bring in one extra player inside the circle for the remaining deliveries if they are short of the allotted time.

Rohit Sharma-led team was punished for the last three overs, which allowed the Pakistan batters to go for big shots.

Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hardik Panda took 4 and 3 wickets for India, respectively.
