India women registered an emphatic win over Australia women in the first T20I of the series. Chasing 142 to beat Australia, the Women in Blue won the game by 9 wickets.

Shafali Verma (64 not out) and Smriti Mandhana (54) added 137 runs for the opening wicket. Shafali hit 6 fours and 3 sixes in her 44-ball knock.

Mandhana faced 52 balls and slammed 7 fours and 1 six. Jemimah Rodrigues was the other unbeaten batter when India won the contest in 17.4 overs.

Earlier, Australia were bowled out for 141 in 19.2 overs, with Titas Sadhu taking 4 wickets. She was named the Player of the Match for her match-winning bowling spell. Titas conceded just 17 runs in 4 overs.

Shreyanka Patil and Deepti Sharma dismissed two batters each while Amanjot Kaur and Renuka Singh added 1 scalp each.
