Yuzvendra Chahal recently surpassed Jasprit Bumrah as Team India’s all-time highest wicket-taker in T20 internationals, and is on the verge of achieving more records in the shortest format of the game.
The spinner, who dismissed one batter in the first game against Sri Lanka, is four wickets away from becoming the fourth Indian to take 250 wickets in the slam-bang version of the game. Piyush Chawla (270), Ravichandran Ashwin (264) and Amit Mishra (262) are the top three wicket-takers. Chahal has taken 246 wickets in 224 matches.
Yuzi is also six wickets away from becoming the highest wicket-taker against Sri Lanka in T20Is. Australian spinner leads the list with 21 wickets. Earlier, Chahal was not considered for the ICC T20 World Cup despite his magnificent performance in the second leg of the Indian Premier League.
After India’s below-par performance in the global event, Yuzvendra was recalled for the New Zealand series and hasn’t looked back since then. Chahal will represent Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022. He earlier played for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
