Batting first, India scored 199 runs in the allotted 20 overs, and India’s tried seven bowlers during their chase. Apart from Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Venkatesh Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja, and Deepak Hooda bowled in the match. With the Men in Blue in a comfortable position in the contest, Iyer, in the post-match presentation, said that he had urged Bumrah to roll his arm in the death overs. Although he refused.

Speaking in the post-match presentation, Iyer said, “I wanted to bowl and around the 16th over when Rohit went out, he had already told Bumrah about the bowlers who he needs to bowl. So I tried to bribe him, but it didn’t work in his favour.

Iyer had earlier presented his case as the sixth bowling option in South Africa. Captain Rohit Sharma once said that Iyer needs to play as an all-rounder to be a regular player in the Indian squad.

Coming back to the match, the visitors could only score 137 for the loss of six wickets. Iyer scored an unbeaten 57 off 28 balls.
