Shreyas Iyer has been India’s best batter in the last one month. After his phenomenal performance against Sri Lanka in the T20I series, he has continued smashing runs in the longest format of the game.
In the ongoing day-night Test against the same opponent, Iyer has been unstoppable on one of the most difficult pitches for the batters to bat on. Shreyas amassed 92 in the first innings of the Bengaluru Test while he is batting on 63 in the second.
He is the first Indian and fifth overall to score a fifty in both the innings of a Pink Ball Test match.
Earlier, India were bowled out for 252. Jasprit Bumrah five-fer didn’t allow Sri Lanka to settle down and the host managed just 109 runs.
Meanwhile, the 27-year had started his Test career with a bang. He hit a well compiled hundred and a fifty against New Zealand in Kanpur.
