Overview:

India are without Bumrah for this series, and Siraj is tipped to lead the fast-bowling attack alongside Arshdeep.

India and New Zealand will begin their three-match ODI series on Sunday, with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli returning to action.

The series opener will take place at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara and marks Shubman Gill’s return to the national team. The right-hander featured in the T20I series against South Africa but missed the fifth T20I after suffering a toe injury.

Shreyas Iyer is also coming back for this series. The vice-captain missed the South Africa games with a rib injury, and his return may lead to changes in the lineup.

Shubman Gill’s return could lead to Jaiswal’s omission from the playing XI, even after the latter’s century against South Africa while opening alongside Rohit Sharma. Pant may also miss out, with Rahul likely to be preferred as a wicketkeeper.

In the all-rounders’ slot, India are expected to rely on the spin-bowling pair of Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar. Nitish Reddy could come into the frame if the team management prefers just two specialist quicks.

India are without Bumrah for this series, and Siraj is tipped to lead the fast-bowling attack alongside Arshdeep. Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna are competing for the remaining berth, with Kuldeep Yadav holding the spinner’s role.

India’s probable playing XI: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul (wk), Shubman Gill (captain), Washington Sundar, Shreyas Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Mohammed Siraj.
