Rishabh Pant has hardly done anything in his T20I career but continues to play for India. Surprisingly, he is not bothered by his failures, which shows his careless attitude towards the game. In the ongoing series against South Africa, the 24-year-old has not looked convincing even in one game.

On the other hand, Dinesh Karthik has been sublime and contributed to Team India’s win in the fourth match against the Proteas in Rajkot. Former South bowler Dale Steyn has explained why Karthik should be preferred over Pant for the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.

The 37-year-old hit 55 in the last game, which carried India to a match-winning total of 169. Steyn feels Pant is getting dismissed similarly and doesn’t want to learn from his mistakes.

“If you want to win the World Cup, you will pick a guy in form. Teams will pick on reputation, but DK is in such fantastic form, and if he continues, he will be one of the first names written down on the plane when India leave for the World Cup,” he said.

Steyn was all praise for Karthik’s knock of 27-ball 55. “DK has been superb, and he reads the game very well. He is a quality wicket-keeper as well.’
