Shaheen Afridi is not playing in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 in the UAE. His absence was felt during the first game against India as most of the Pakistan bowlers struggled with cramps due to hot and humid conditions in Dubai.

R Ashwin, who has travelled with Team India for the tournament, recently predicted that Afridi would have gone for a lot of money in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Afridi led Lahore Qalandars to Pakistan Super League (PSL) title this year, becoming the youngest skipper to lift the coveted trophy.

“It would have been crazy if Shaheen Afridi was a part of IPL auction. A tall left-arm pacer who takes wickets with the new ball and bowls Yorkers at the death. He might have gone for 14-15 crore,” said R Ashwin.

Pakistan players are not allowed to play in the cash-rich league after terrorist attacks in Mumbai. They participated in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2008.
