Former Pakistan player Asif Iqbal has spoken about the possibility of Mohammad Rizwan leading the national cricket team in ODIs and T20Is.
He believes it will help Babar Azam to bat with freedom and score more runs in the two formats.
Pakistan lost to New Zealand in one-day internationals, while England defeated them in T20Is at home.
Babar has been among the runs, but his leadership style has been questioned by many.
Speaking to Dawn News, Iqbal said Pakistan should free Babar of some responsibilities.
“Babar is Pakistan’s best batter, who is feeling drained out because of the captaincy in limited-overs cricket. If the captain’s armband is given to Rizwan, it will help Babar’s batting,” he said.
Azam scored 679 runs in nine games at 84.87 with three hundreds and five fifties in 2022.
