South Africa spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba caused panic among the New Zealand batters in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 match in Indore. From 187/3 at one stage, the batting team was bowled out for 231 in 47.5 overs.
Mlaba took four wickets and conceded just 40 runs from 10 overs. Brooke Halliday (45) and Sophie Devine (85), the two best batters, were undone by the tweaker. Maddy Green (4) and Lea Tahuhu (5) were sent back by Malba, who was also involved in the run-out of Isabella Gaze.
Suzie Bates, the opening batter, who scored just 1 run in the previous match against Australia, managed a duck against the Proteas. Georgia Plimmer (31) and Amelia Kerr (23) started well but couldn’t carry on for long.
Ayabonga Khaka, Marizanne Kapp, Chloe Tryon, and Nadine de Klerk took 1 wicket each in the game.
