Afghanistan’s star leg-spinner Rashid Khan on Friday became the fastest bowler to pick up 100 wickets in T20Is. He achieved the landmark in his team’s match against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Mohammad Hafeez, the veteran batter, was Rashid’s 100th victim when in T20Is. He has joined the likes of Lasith Malinga, Tim Southee and Shakib Al Hasan, who have taken 100 or more wickets in the shortest format of the game.
Rashid Khan surpassed Lasith Malinga to become the fastest bowler to achieve the record. While Malinga took 76 innings to take 100 wickets, Rashid claimed his 100th wicket in his 53rd match. The 23-year-old conceded just 26 runs from 4 overs and took the wickets of Mohammad Hafeez and Babar Azam.
