The West Indies squad will finally head back home after a chartered aircraft was arranged, ending a four-day wait caused by flight disruptions following US and Israeli strikes on Iran that led to major airspace restrictions.
“A charter flight has been organised for the West Indies team to return home,” a source said on Thursday.

“Got an update. That’s all WI wanted,” former West Indies captain Daren Sammy tweeted.
The development came few hours after Sammy voiced his frustration on social media.
Following their Super Eight loss to India in Kolkata on Sunday, West Indies were unable to depart.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ Rovman Powell will assemble with the squad from March 18. Sherfane Rutherford is contracted with the Mumbai Indians, Shimron Hetmyer features for the Rajasthan Royals, while Romario Shepherd will join the Royal Challengers Bengaluru when their camp starts on March 15.
A Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) official confirmed that the matter was being handled by the International Cricket Council.
“It is fully under the ICC’s control. We haven’t received any new information about the West Indies team’s travel plans, though they are still here and working on securing a chartered aircraft,” the official said earlier in the day.
