Former Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal has slammed the International Cricket Council (ICC), saying the apex body has become helpless in front of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and warned that the reputation of the decision-makers is at stake.

Speaking to the media, Ajmal mentioned that due to the BCCI, the ICC is unable to make fair calls in world cricket. He added that the global body should stop working.

“If the ICC is unable to force the Indian cricket team to accept its decision, then its existence is not needed,” he said.

Ajmal commented amid a debate around money and governance in cricket and around the relation between India and Pakistan that has led to a venue change, with no bilateral matches between the two countries.

“There is no reason why India can’t play in Pakistan, but the ICC is helpless because the Indians dominated it,” he added.

Ajmal claimed that several nations are frustrated, but they are not ready to say it openly because of their financial dependence on the Indian market. India have refused to play in Pakistan due to security concerns and the approval from government. India and Pakistan only compete against each other in the ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup.

Ajmal argued that the ICC is unable to enforce decisions because of board with a commercial weight is involved.

Jay Shah is the head of the International Cricket Council. With the Men in Blue not ready to tour Pakistan, the hosting rights, fans’ support, and revenues have taken a hit. Ajmal is miffed with the ICC and questions their existence.
