Afghanistan batter Ibrahim Zadran was named the Player of the Match for scoring 87 against Pakistan in the ICC World Cup 2023.
His innings played a crucial role in Afghanistan’s win over the Men in Green by 8 wickets.
He dedicated his award to the Afghan nationals, who were forcibly sent back to Afghanistan from Pakistan.
“I played with a positive intent. The partnership with Gurbaz was crucial. We know each other for a long time and have stitched important stands in the past as well,” he said.
“I am glad for myself and my country. I am dedicated my Player of the Match award to my countrymen who were forcibly sent back home from Pakistan,” he added.
Earlier Babar struck 77 before cameos by Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed guided Pakistan to 282 for 7 in 50 overs.
For Afghanistan, spinner Noor Ahmad picked up 3 wickets.
