Legendary opener Shikhar Dhawan has said that he would prefer Shubman Gill over himself in the ODI team.
Dhawan was not considered for the series against Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Australia despite being a part of the 50-over format for India in the last nine years.
Shubman Gill was given a chance and the batter has sealed his spot. He has scored 624 runs in nine innings at an average of 78 in 2023, including two centuries and a double-ton.
He has registered several records in one-day internationals. Speaking in an interview with Aaj Tak, Dhawan said that he would Gill chance over him in the ODI team.
“Gill has been sensational for Team India. He has played match-winning knocks. If I was the selector, I would have dropped myself for Shubman,” he said.
