Shoaib Akhtar is quite active on social media, and time and again he likes interacting with fans. The former pacer recently spoke to his fans on Instagram and answered a couple of questions from them.
One of his fans asked about the 2011 World Cup semi-final against India and his fastest delivery in international cricket.
“If you had played against India in 2011 in Mohali, was there a chance of breaking the fastest delivery record,” the fan wrote.
Instead of answering the question directly, he added Team India’s angle to his reply.
“I would have broken some toes and ribs for sure. If not 161.3,” he responded.
For the record, he was not included in the playing XI and Pakistan were comprehensively beaten by India.
Batting first, India scored 260/9 from the allotted 50 overs. While Sachin scored 85 runs for the Men in Blue, Wahab Riaz dismissed five Indian batsmen. Chasing just 261 runs on a batting-friendly wicket, Pakistan started brilliantly, but the dismissal of opener Kamran Akmal started a flurry of wickets.
The team led by Misbah-ul-Haq could only score 231 runs and the home team won the game by 29 runs in the end. All the Indian bowlers bowled exceptionally well.
