Indian players are facing massive flak for their average performances against the Australian spinner in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The home team had no answer to visiting tweakers in the third Test in Indore, as the Steve Smith-led team lost the game by 9 wickets.
The pitches have been helpful for the spinners throughout the contests. Former India player Gautam Gambhir has backed Rohit Sharma’s team, saying Virat Kohli, Rohit, and Chesteshwar Pujara are good batters and don’t deserve criticism based on their display in the Test games against the Aussies.
“Pujara, Rohit and Virat are good players of spin bowling and that’s why they are playing for India. If they were bad cricketers, they wouldn’t have come so far. They can play the fast bowling with ease as well,” he said.
However, he is not happy with the games finishing early.
“I am fine with the turning tracks but I won’t appreciate Test matches finishing in 2.5 days. We want to see tight finishes, like the one between New Zealand and England, in which the Tim Southee’s teamn won by one wicket.”
