Dinesh Karthik has been playing the finisher’s role for India since his comeback. He scored 41 not out off just 19 deliveries in the first T20Iof the ongoing series against the West Indies.
Karthik has become a 360-degree player and added new strokes to his batting arsenal. Karthik made his debut for India in 2004 but failed to cement his place in the squad. He was also a part of the teams that won the inaugural World T20 in 2007 and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013.
“I have worked on my power hitting. I wish I had done that a little earlier in my career. It is going good at the moment,” he said. Karthik also praised Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma for trusting his abilities.
“Extremely happy with the backing by Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma. This is what I needed. When the captain and coach believe in you, it is important to perform well,” he added.
Karthik is expected to play an important role for the Men in Blue in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
