Matt Renshaw, who tested COVID-19 positive on the day of the third Test match between Australia and South Africa at the Sydney Cricket Ground, has opened up the episode. He admitted to feeling low and thought he would be dropped from the team.
Ashton Agar and Renshaw were recalled for the team. Despite getting a positive report, he was included in the Playing XI.
However, he was kept in isolation from the rest of the squad.
Speaking on Fox Cricket, Renshaw said it felt weird to be away from his teammates.
“It was a weird two days before I batted. I was not allowed to spend time with anyone and sit in the dressing room. I will tell my story to my grandkids. When I first got in there, I dumped everything. I thought I wouldn’t be able to do anything. I played crosswords and sudokus,” he said.
“I was applauded by fans when I walked out to bat. That cheered me up a bit. It’s been five and a half years since my last one, so I enjoyed the moment.
He could score only 5 runs, and the game was marred by rain, and captain Pat Cummins declared the innings immediately on Day 4 of the game.
