Pakistan-born American cricketer Shayan Jahangir has expressed his ultimate ambition to play against the renowned Indian batsman Virat Kohli. Jahangir, who previously represented the Pakistan U-19 team, now plays for the United States senior cricket team.
During the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 qualifier against Nepal, Jahangir showcased his talent by scoring a century in the Group A match, receiving praise from the cricketing community.

Despite his impressive performance, Jahangir’s century could not secure a victory for the American team as Nepal won the match by 6 wickets. However, Jahangir remains focused on his goal of playing against Virat Kohli, aiming to demonstrate his skills and prove that there is another talented batter emerging on the scene.
“My ultimate goal is to play against Virat Kohli,” Jahangir said of his ambition. “Play against him and show there’s another batter on the block waiting for opportunities in all these big leagues,” he told the International Cricket Council (ICC) after the game.
Previously, Jahangir had represented Pakistan U19 alongside notable players such as Sami Islam, Imam-Ul-Haq, and Hussain Talat. He also played for the Pakistan International Airlines in domestic cricket before relocating to the United States. Additionally, Jahangir gained experience by playing for the Barbados Tridents in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
In his ODI career, Jahangir has participated in nine matches, accumulating 235 runs at an average of 33.57 and a strike rate of 90.73. Notably, the century against Nepal marked his first-ever century in international One-day cricket.
