Indian all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer has opened up on his comparison with Gujarat Titans’ captain Hardik Pandya ahead of IPL 2022. The left-handed batter has said that he is a massive admirer of Hardik, but he doesn’t pay heed to the comparisons. India will compete in the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia later this year. Both Venkatesh and Hardik are solid contenders for taking up the all-rounder’s slot in the team.
Venkatesh came to the limelight after his performance for Kolkata Knight Riders in the second leg of the IPL 2021. He scored 370 runs at an excellent average of 41.11. In 9 T20Is, he has scored 133 runs at a massive strike rate of 162.2. The pacer has picked up five wickets as well.
“I have huge respect for Hardik Pandya. I am a huge admirer of Hardik bhai. The comparisons with him are natural, but I don’t pay heed to them,” Iyer was quoted as saying by Times of India.
Hardik has played 54 T20I matches in which he has scored 553 runs and has taken 42 wickets.
