Team India lost the first ODI against New Zealand by 7 wickets. The batters took the Men in Blue to 306 in 50 overs, but the score never challenged the Kiwis, who comfortably took the lead in a three-match series.
Tom Latham slammed 145 off 104 balls, while Kane Williamson accumulated 94 off 98 deliveries. The duo shared an unbeaten partnership of 221 runs after the fall of three early wickets.
Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer scored the fifties for the Men in Blue, and Washington Sundar’s powerful cameo ensured that the team had a strong finish.
The all-rounder scored an unbeaten 37 off just 16 deliveries, which featured three 4s and the same number of 6s.
Former India opener W V Raman was mighty pleased with Sundar’s efforts and gave a suggestion to all the teams.
“I may get trolled, nonetheless I am going to say what needs to be. All the sides that @Sundarwashi5 plays for should make better use of his batting ability.. @TNCACricket must set the ball rolling.”
