Virat Kohli won the toss in the third Test match between England and India and decided to go ahead with the same team that led the visitors to a sensational win in the second Test at Lord’s. After warming the bench in the first two Test matches, there were hopes of seeing R Ashwin in the playing XI, but the Indian management had other plans in mind.
Former cricketer and one of the leading commentators, Sanjay Manjrekar, who has targeted Ravindra Jadeja in the past, was not happy with the inclusion of Jadeja in the third match after his ordinary bowling in the previous games.
“I have no issues with Ravindra Jadeja. But I have preferred Ravi Ashwin is playing in this Test match in place of Ravi Jadeja,” he said.
For the record, Ashwin bowled beautifully in the finale of the World Test Championship and one of the matches of the County Championship. Despite his exceptional track record in Whites, India have kept him out of the team.
