Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan is currently playing for Sussex in County Championships 2022. India’s veteran batter Cheteshwar Pujara is also a part of the same team and has been one of the best performers for the side in the division so far. Pujara has scored 717 runs in four matches for Sussex and is the second-highest run-getter in the season.
During a match against Durham, Pujara and Rizwan stitched a partnership of 154 runs. While Pujara scored a double hundred, Rizwan accumulated 79 off 145 balls.
Rizwan has now opened up about sharing the dressing room with the Indian legend. He also sought Pujara’s suggestion after making an inconsistent start to the season. Before his 79-run knock, Rizwan had scores of 22, 0, and 4 in three innings.
“I had a chat with Pujara. He told me a couple of things, and one of them was to play close to the body,” Rizwan told Cricwick.
“After early dismissals, I spoke to Pujara in the nets, and I remember him saying that you have to play differently from how we play in Asia. Here, we need to play close to the body,” he added.
