Adam Zampa was named the Player of the Match for taking four wickets in the final ODI against India in Chennai. The visitors won the game by 21 runs as the Rohit Sharma-led team was bowled out for 248 runs.
Zampa got rid of Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, and Ravindra Jadeja. Adam wanted the trophy to go to Ashton Agar, whose two wickets in two balls brought the Australians back into the game.
Agar foxed Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav, and there was no looking back for the Steve Smith-led team.
“To be honest, I don’t deserve the award. It was Ashton Agar, whose two wickets in two balls gave us a chance. He deserves the award and not me,”‘ he said.
Australia took the series by 2-1, having won the second and the third contest. The Men in Blue won the opening tie by 5 wickets.
Mitchell Marsh was named the Player of the Series for scoring 194 runs in three games.
