Ireland all-rounder Simi Singh was not sure of his survival when he suffered a liver failure but fought back for his family members. The 37-year-old was battling for life due to a severe illness and was waiting for a liver transplant at the Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon.

He took to social media to inform his fans and well-wishers about his successful liver transplant. Simi was unwell in Ireland and came back to India for treatment. He was referred to the Medanta Hospital by PGI Chandigarh.

In his conversation with the Times of India, Simi talked about the process and his will to fight.

“I was not feeling good when I was being taken to Medanta. I thought my time had come and I wouldn’t survive. I was not sure of my recovery. I wanted to fight back for my family as I didn’t want to die in front of my parents and family members,” he said.

His wife, Agamdeep Kaur, donated a part of her liver to keep her husband safe.

“Agamdeep told me that should wouldn’t let anything happen to me. I came to know that she had donated her liver, and it made me emotional. Both of us now want to recover and start living a normal life. We want to live for our son, who is three. We will travel to a nice place after recovery in order to forget this episode,” he added.

Simi last played for Ireland in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

In 53 T20Is and 35 ODIs, he has taken 83 wickets and scored almost 900 runs.
