Faf du Plessis will lead Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022. The veteran has replaced Virat Kohli, who stood down from the post following the conclusion of the 14th season of the tournament.
Reacting to having Virat as a teammate, Faf labeled himself as lucky.
“I am very lucky that Virat Kohli will be with me in RCB to help me in my new chapter.”
He also said that no cricketer in the world could replace AB de Villiers, who retired from all forms of cricket after the last season.
“It is huge shoes to fill in. No cricketer in the world can replace him. I would not even try as he is an absolute great of the game,” du Plessis said of his former South African teammate.
In 157 matches for RCB, he amassed 4522 runs. “He also asked me to join RCB, so the timing is not great as he is no more part of the team. So, unfortunately, we will not be playing together.”
