On Thursday (November 18), the Pakistan team management issued a clarification after hoisting the national flag at the Mirpur ground created a huge controversy. According to the team manager, hoisting the flag during training sessions is nothing new for the team, and Saqlain Mushtaq introduced this practice.
Many Bangladesh fans took the move as a political message ahead of the golden jubilee celebrations of independence.
“It is nothing new for us, and it is part of the coaching philosophy of Saqlain Mushtaq since he joined the team. He feels that putting up the flag serves as an inspiration and motivation for the players,” the media manager said during a media interaction held by Pakistani captain Babar Azam.
