Jemimah Rodrigues was seen talking to Richa Ghosh after the latter was crying following Royal Challengers Bangalore’s 1-run defeat against Delhi Capitals in WPL 2024 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
After RCB’s loss, Richa sat on the pitch in disbelief as she was run out on the last ball of the match. Jemimah went up to her and motivated her.
“She was in tears and I felt for her. I was happy that my team Delhi Capitals won the match but I was feeling for Richa. I told her that such situations will come in the future as well and urged her to hit winning runs for India in the World Cup final,” Jemimah told the broadcasters.
RCB needed 17 runs off the last 6 balls. Richa slammed Jess Jonassen for 2 sixes, and the target became 2 runs off 1 ball. However, she was run out while trying to take a single. Ghosh scored 51 runs off 29 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes as the Challengers failed to complete the chase of 182 runs.
Jemimah, who scored a 36-ball 58, said that Richa would grow as a cricketer after scoring runs under pressure.
“She is going to gain experience from her knock. Richa was good under pressure and played in front of a big crowd. You will face such situations in WPL. She batted brilliantly,” she added.
