Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has reacted on Virat Kohli’s sacking and Rohit Sharma’s appointment as ODI captain.
The veteran feels Virat’s decision to step down from the leadership role in T20Is opened the doors for Rohit.
He further added there has to be one white-ball captain, and the board did the right thing to move ahead with Rohit.
The 34-year old was given the additional responsibility of the ODI team ahead of the South Africa series.
However, the decision didn’t go down well with Virat, who was not informed well in advance. He even denied Ganguly’s claims that he was requested to carry on with T20I captaincy after the ICC T20 World Cup.
The board officials were shocked after Kohli’s explosive press conference, but decided to keep mum considering the tour of South Africa.
