Abhimanyu Easwaran
Abhimanyu was not given a chance in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.

Overview:

In his first-class career, the Bengal batter has amassed 7841 runs from 103 matches at an average of 48.70 with 27 centuries and 31 half-centuries.

Abhimanyu Easwaran’s father, Ranganathan Easwaran, said that India head coach Gautam Gambhir has told his son that he will get a chance in the Playing XI. Easwaran was benched in the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy as Karun Nair and Sai Sudharsan were preferred over him.

The duo managed just one half-century each against England. Abhimanyu Easwaran’s father Ranganathan revealed the conversation between his son and the team management.

“Gautam Gambhir spoke to my son and he assured him of a long run. That’s what my son told me. The entire support staff told him that he will get chances. My son has been working hard for 23 years but he is still waiting to play for the country,” Ranganathan Easwaran told Vickey Lalwani.

He mentioned that Abhimanyu should’ve played in place of Sai Sudharsan.

“There is no ill feeling for Sai Sudharsan but my son should have played at the No.3 spot. I know Sudharsan and other players. They should have tried Abhimanyu, who has played on green pitches at the Eden Gardens. He can bat for a long time,” he added.

Ranganathan also questioned the team management’s unfair treatment.“Karu Nair is not a regular No.3 batter and he has batted at No.4 or No.5 slot in domestic cricket. You will find players, who are getting chances in the top order without any experience. My son can’t bat 3 or 4. He can only play as an opener.”

Abhimanyu has been a part of Team India for a long time but he failed to to earn his maiden xap. 15 players have debuted for India in the same period.
