The first round of the ICC T20 World Cup is underway in Australia, while the super 12 round will kickstart on October 22.
Meanwhile, India locked horns with Australia in a warm-up match on Monday, October 17. Batting first, the Men in Blue piled up 186 on the board.
KL Rahul scored 57, while Suryakumar Yadav continued his scintillating form and struck 50 off 33 balls, which included six fours and one six.
After the first innings, Australia seamer Kane Richardson, who took four wickets in the match, spoke to the broadcasters. He reserved high praise for SKY and called him one of the best T20I batters in the world.
“I think it was the first time I saw Surya mistime a shot against us. It was great taking on one of the best T20I batters in the world at the moment.”
Richardson caught and bowled SKY in the final over of the match. Despite a four-wicket haul, Richardson admitted that he does not expect to make it to the playing XI in the World Cup.
“I am not expecting to be a part of the playing XI, but if any injury occurs, I am happy to contribute to the team.”
