He is not suited for Australian pitches – Former national selector raises question over the selection of one Indian bowler
After the squad announcement, Harshal Patel hogged headlines as several experts and fans felt that the RCB star isn't the perfect choice.

The T20 World Cup starts in a month in Australia. The Men in Blue have released their squad, and Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel are back in the mix.

To the fans’ disappointment, Mohammed Shami made it to the squad as a standby player.

After the squad announcement, Harshal Patel hogged headlines as several experts and fans felt that the RCB star isn’t the perfect choice for Australian pitches.

The latest to share his views on Harshal Patel is former national selector Sarandeep Singh.

Agreeing with the fans, Singh opined that young Arshdeep Singh should get a chance ahead of Harshal Patel.

“Harshal Patel hardly bowls seam-up deliveries. All he has is slower ones, which won’t be sufficient in Australia. What he does is tough, but he cannot bowl yorkers and bouncers.”

Singh said that Arshdeep Singh is capable of bowling yorkers, and being a left-arm is also a plus.

“Harshal is not a death bowler in comparison to Arshdeep Singh. If you go ahead with Harshal, he must complete his spell by the 16th over for Bhuvi and Bumrah to bowl in the death. But with Arshdeep in the eleven, his death bowling abilities allow the team to use Bhuvi and Bumrah in middle overs. “

Singh concluded by expressing his displeasure over Shami’s exclusion from the 15-member squad. “His quality at the start is something India will miss for sure.”
