He even said that even Jasprit Bumrah will concede a lot of runs when he returns to the playing XI.

The major absentee in the Indian squad for the forthcoming Asia Cup 2022 is bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. The MI star has been ruled out due to a back injury.

The extent of his injury is unknown, but there are speculations that he might even miss the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. In his absence, India are left with just three seaming options (Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan).

Former cricketer turned analyst Aakash Chopra had earlier expressed his displeasure over just three seaming options and now has questioned the nature of Bumrah’s injury.

On his YouTube channel, Chopra questioned the relevance of workload management. Bumrah is given regular breaks, but he still gets injured.

“I don’t know the extent of the injury, but Bumrah’s injuries have impacted the performance of the Indian team. He has missed around 70% of matches in last two years.”

He further questioned Bumrah’s action and said his unorthodox action could also be one of the reasons behind back injury.

“There is pressure on different areas of the body. His back and the ligaments are under pressure due to his unusual action.”

Notably, Bumrah was ruled out of South Africa and Bangladesh series in 2019 due to a stress fracture.

He further said that Bumrah needs to take care of his body since his unorthodox action challenges his biomechanics slightly.
