Many Indian star cricketers were bought for whopping money during the IPL 2022 mega auction. Ishan Kishan, Deepak Chahar, Shreyas Iyer, and Harshal Patel bagged big bucks at the auction. Ishan was bought by Mumbai Indians for 15.25 crore, while Deepak got INR 14 crore from Chennai Super Kings. Kolkata Knight Riders invested INR 12.25 crore in Shreyas Iyer, while Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore got Shardul Thakur and Harshal for INR 10.75cr each.
Though many felt that some players got more money, Sunil Gavaskar believes that Harshal Patel deserves every penny he got at the auction.
“Look, Harshal deserves every penny he got. He has been a fabulous performer. Earlier, bowlers used to hit him for boundaries, but now he has learned a lot of new variations. So he has become the bowler that batters don’t want to face,” Gavaskar said to Star Sports.
Gavaskar further added that the seamer could play in the shortest format. He has slower ones, yorkers, and skidding deliveries.
Harshal took 32 wickets in the IPL 2021 season. Unfortunately, he wasn’t retained by RCB, but they bought him back at the auction.
