India women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur has broken her silence on the alleged rift with former coach Ramesh Powar, saying the BCCI decided to move him to the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.

Harmanpreet said she always enjoyed working with Powar and that there was no fall-out between the two.

According to the reports, Harmanpreet had complained to Jay Shah about the players being uncomfortable with the coaching style of the former cricketer, which forced the national cricket board to take strict action.

Hrishikesh Kanitkar was appointed as the batting coach of the women’s team, while Ramesh joined the NCA as the new spin bowling coach.

The apex body of Indian cricket has not named a head coach for the women’s team.

“The reports are false as I have always enjoyed working with Ramesh, sir. We have leant a lot from him and grown as a team,” said Harmanpreet Kaur.

“The BCCI decided to move him to the NCA. He will be there as the spin coach, and whenever we are present at the NCA, Ramesh sir will always be available.”
