India all-rounder Hardik Pandya is not focusing on his future when asked whether he is considering playing Test cricket for India. Hardik said he wouldn’t play if he can’t contribute 100 percent to the team and doesn’t want to take someone else’s place in the squad.

The star all-rounder has not played red-ball cricket since September 2018 as back injury issues hampered him. Hardik returned to competitive cricket in the Indian Premier League 2022 and led Gujarat Titans to the title in their maiden season.

He showed his talent in the five-match T20I series against South Africa and was Man of the Match in the first T20I against England.

He scored a half-century and took 4 wickets for his side. “I want to play as many games as possible for India,” Hardik told the press after India’s victory in Southampton.

“This is white-ball season as big World Cups are coming, and the focus is on white-ball. The more I play white-ball cricket for the Men in Blue, it is good. When the opportunity to play Test comes, I will definitely play, but only time will tell what I should and shouldn’t.”

“If I can play as a 100 percent cricketer, I will play; if I can’t, then I won’t; I will not take someone else’s place,” he added.
