Hardik Pandya is the front-runner to replace Rohit Sharma as T20I skipper after India’s poor showing in the Asia Cup and the ICC T20 World Cup.
He recently led India to a 1-0 win over New Zealand in a three-match T20I series. Earlier, he won a series as a captain in Ireland.
Before that, he led Gujarat Titans to the IPL title in 2022. Former India players Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri want Hardik as India’s new T20 skipper.
Hardik was asked about his views on the statement made by the two legendary cricketers.
“It feels good, but nothing has happened officially,” said Pandya.
“To be honest, I will lead the team my way. I will play the brand of cricket I know. As far as captaincy is concerned, we will see if it comes to me,” he added.
He also spoke about the players who didn’t get a chance in the series against New Zealand.
“If someone is feeling bad, my doors are always open, and they can come whenever they want. I will explain it to them. They will get chances in the future.”
