Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane showcased their class on Day 1 of the ongoing second Test at the same venue.

As Ajinkya Rahane turned 33 on Sunday, the cricketing fraternity took to social media to wish the veteran batsman. Team India skipper Virat Kohli took to Instagram to wish his Test deputy.

“Happy birthday jinks. Lots of peace, happiness to you and many more memorable partnerships with you,” Kohli wrote on his Instagram story.

“Happy birthday, @ajinkyarahane88! He has scored 7920 runs in 183 internationals so far and recently led India to the famous Border-Gavaskar Trophy victory in Australia in 2020-21,” the International Cricket Council (ICC) tweeted.

“The Karate Kid in you was seen in Australia. After the 36 all out in Adelaide, the way you led from the front in a historic test series victory will always be etched in every Cricket lover’s memory. Happy Birthday @ajinkyarahane88 Kee May,” former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag tweeted.

“Here’s wishing @ajinkyarahane88 – #TeamIndia’s Test vice-captain – a very happy birthday,” BCCI wrote on Twitter.

“Hoping to see this pose a few times in this English summer, happy birthday Ajju @ajinkyarahane88 good luck,” former Indian batsman Wasim Jaffer tweeted.

“Happy Birthday to a man who has played such an instrumental role in India reaching the WTC finals. Most runs for India in WTC – 1095 Runs and outstanding leadership which led to an unforgettable series win in Australia. Wish you ever more success @ajinkyarahane88,” VVS Laxman wrote on Twitter.

Ajinkya Rahane is currently with the Indian team in Southampton, gearing up for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) Final, followed by the five-match Test series against England.
