Former Sri Lanka coach Mickey Arthur has suggested England players should stop playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to improve the performance of the Test side.

Former England player and one of the greatest batters of his era, Geoffrey Boycott, has slammed Rory Burns and wants the selectors to look past the left-handed batter.

The 32-year old struggled throughout the Ashes and scored his runs at an average of 12.83 in three Test matches. He is likely to lose his spot ahead of the next Test series.

Writing for The Telegraph, Boycott termed Burns’ technique as ugly and thinks England will have to find an alternative.

“Rory Burns is ugly to watch and if that is the best England have to offer , then god bless English cricket. England need to find someone else to do the job,” he wrote.

Geoffrey also opened up on the performance of star all-rounder Ben Stokes. “Stokes tried his best but lack of practice impacted his performance. We saw glimpses of what he can do as a cricketer but he couldn’t deliver much.”
