Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh’s wife and actress Geeta Basra has heaped massive praise on Virat Kohli for raising awareness about paternity leave in India.

The 33-year-old is married to actor Anushka Sharma and took paternity leave midway through India’s 2020-21 tour of Australia amid the birth of their first kid.

A lot was said about Virat’s decision as he was the team’s captain. However, Virat decided to shut the outside noise and went on to miss three Tests.

The famous couple welcomed a baby girl on January 11, 2021, and named her Vamika.

Geeta, who has two children, Hinaya and Jovan, is impressed with the former India captain as she spoke about the role of a father in parenting.

“My working mom raised two siblings and me. I want to be like her. Raising kids is the responsibility of both mother and father. In the UK, paternity leave is a common thing. Many are not even aware that such a thing is there in India. It is great that Virat highlighted the issue. Awareness has to be there,” Geeta told the Times of India.

She also talked about Harbhajan Singh’s parenting skills. “Bhajji is a responsible father. He is a hands-on father. But, on the other hand, I have seen men who are not involved in their kid’s upbringing, and that’s wrong,” she added.
