Babar Azam sacking from Test and ODI captaincy
Babar has done well as a skipper in white-ball cricket, but the star player failed in the red-ball format.

Pakistan defeated the Netherlands to register their first win in the ICC T20 World Cup. They were thumped by India and Zimbabwe in the first two games, and their semi-final chances are pretty low.

Former players and fans have blamed captain Babar Azam for Pakistan’s poor performance in the tournament Down Under.

He has failed in the batting department, with many urging him to leave the opening slot for the team’s betterment.

Even former India batter Gautam Gambhir criticised Babar. “Don’t be selfish. Think about your team first rather than yourself. You should have opened with Fakhar Zaman if nothing was working. As a captain, you can’t be selfish. It is easy to create records while batting with Mohammad Rizwan. You both have achieved a lot, but you must think about your team,” said Gambhir.

Even the likes of Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar have lashed out at the Pakistan captain for his refusal to come down in the batting order.
