The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) clinched their fifth IPL title with a victory over the Gujarat Titans (GT). Gautam Gambhir, a two-time IPL winner and mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), praised CSK for their remarkable achievement.

CSK, led by MS Dhoni, made history by securing their fifth IPL trophy in the 2023 edition, defeating the reigning champions GT at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. The thrilling match, which faced rain delays and extended into a reserve day, concluded with CSK winning by five wickets in a last-ball finish, courtesy of Ravindra Jadeja’s impressive performance.

The cricket community promptly showered accolades on the Yellow Army, with praise pouring in from various corners. Notably, Gautam Gambhir, a former Indian teammate of Dhoni, expressed his admiration for CSK’s accomplishment. Gambhir, who had captained the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to IPL victory in 2012 and 2014, highlighted the difficulty of winning the trophy on five separate occasions.

“Congratulations CSK! Winning 1 title is difficult, winning 5 is unbelievable,” he wrote.

While GT’s success gained attention, Gambhir acknowledged the significant achievement of the LSG franchise, reaching the playoffs in both the 2022 and 2023 seasons. LSG faced defeat against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 2023 IPL eliminator, narrowly missing out on further success in the playoffs stage.
