Gautam Gambhir has lauded Team India for their performance against Pakistan in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022.
In their first match, the Indian eves defeated Pakistan by 107 runs to start their campaign on a winning note.
The Women in Blue scored 244/7 in 50 overs and then bowled out rivals for 137 runs to register a remarkable win.
During a discussion on Star Sports, Gautam Gambhir was delighted by India’s performance.
“India played the sort of match they were expecting. They had lost six wickets at a score of 114 runs at one stage, and the comeback they made scored 244 runs and defeated Pakistan by a big margin.”
The former India cricketer highlighted that the team would be happy to be tested in all departments of the game.
“You want to play such a game at the start where your batting is tested, and you are also tested in the bowling department because it was not a big total.”
India were 114/6 at one stage, but a record 122-run seventh-wicket partnership between Pooja Vastrakar and Sneh Rana took India to a competitive total.
Gambhir concluded that Team India would become more dangerous once Harmanpreet Kaur and Mithali Raj start contributing with the bat.
