From starting in 2008 at 13.6 crore per match to 107 crore per match from 2023, the Indian Premier League has become the second most lucrative sports league in the world. It took just 15 years to surpass some of the biggest leagues.
The cash-rich league is now ahead of the English Premier League (EPL) and National Basketball Association (NBA)
Only National Football League is ahead of IPL. The media rights for the 2023-27 cycle have been sold for a whopping sum of INR 57.5 crore (per match), and the digital rights for 50 crore (per match).
The governing body of Indian cricket is set to earn a whopping 44,075 crore (107.5 crore per game) through IPL Media Rights from 2023-27 from the Indian market.
Currently, National Football League (NFL) is the most lucrative league. Its one match generates revenue of Rs 133 crore.
