Former Pakistan player Rashid Latif has demanded the suspension of Team India after they refused to accept the Asia Cup Trophy from the PCB and ACC head Mohsin Naqvi following the final in Dubai. The Men in Blue won the summit clash by 5 wickets to claim their ninth Continental Cup, but the players didn’t turn up for the presentation ceremony, highlighting that Naqvi is also a minister in Pakistan’s government and has been making controversial statements against India.

Naqvi took away the trophy and medals meant for the champions, which added fuel to the fire, and the BCCI has decided to lodge a complaint against him. Batting first, Pakistan were bowled out for 146 runs in 19.1 overs, and despite the magnificent bowling by their bowlers, India reached the target in 19.4 overs.

Kuldeep Yadav took 4 wickets and finished the tournament with 17 scalps. Tilak Varma scored a match-winning fifty and was supported by Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube. Latif took to social media to slam the Indian team.

“Indian cricket team a good candidate for suspension from @ICC after refusing to collect the #AsiaCup2025 trophy and awards from the ACC Chairman. In any other sport, this would have been an open and shut case. But with ICC Chairman, CEO, CFO, Commercial chief, and head of Events and Communications being Indians, suspension seems unlikely.
Ugly day for cricket as India once again breached the spirit and essence of the gentleman’s game, that too in broad daylight,” he wrote.
