Kuldeep Yadav Asia Cup 2023
Alam believes that with the likes of Kuldeep and Jadeja in the ranks, it gives India a significant edge over other teams in the tournament

Indian team’s spin bowling attack has caught the attention of former Pakistan spinner, Intikhab Alam. The trio of R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav has been selected as India’s main spinners for the tournament.

Intikhab Alam, the former Pakistan captain, singles out Kuldeep Yadav as a crucial player to watch. Kuldeep’s remarkable performance this year, with 33 wickets in 17 ODIs with an average of 16.03, positions him as India’s secret weapon for the tournament.

Alam emphasizes the significance of Kuldeep’s return from a knee injury, noting the spinner’s adjustments to his bowling style. Kuldeep has focused on refining his arm speed and angles. This has resulted in an impressive number of wickets during the crucial middle overs.

Alam highlights India’s distinct advantage in the upcoming World Cup, especially against Pakistan in Ahmedabad on October 14.

“The manner in which India competed in the Asia Cup and handled Sri Lanka in the final. They appear to be the side to defeat. Their spin assault is distinctive. Kuldeep will have a significant impact on the competition. He will put all teams’ batters to the test,” he said.

Alam points out the lethal combination of Jadeja and Kuldeep. He labeled the latter as the best spinner in the World Cup. He also acknowledges the return of Ravichandran Ashwin. In addition to their bowling prowess, Alam also acknowledges the formidable batting strength of India.

Expressing thoughts on Pakistan’s first tour of India under Babar Azam, Alam discusses the role of pressure on the team.

“There will undoubtedly be pressure. The team’s management must treat the players well in order to keep their attention only on cricket. For something like this, you have four years to get ready. To make sure that people remember you for a long time, you must do something unique. For Babar and company, it’s a fantastic chance,” Alam added.
