Rishabh Pant was named the Player of the Match for scoring 88 runs against Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League 2024. The hosts won the game by 4 runs after scoring 224/4 in 20 overs. Pant faced 43 balls and hit 8 sixes and 5 fours in his entertaining knock.

He shared a match-winning partnership with Axar Patel, who accumulated 66 runs in 43 balls, with the help of 5 fours and 4 sixes.

Gujarat had their moment with Sai Sudharsan and David Miller hitting fifty-plus scores, but that was not enough. They finished with a score of 220/8.

Pant took a shocking DRS call in the 18th over of GT’s chase. Mukesh Kumar’s delivery hit the pad of Sai Kishore and went for a boundary. The delivery had clearly pitched outside the leg stump. Despite knowing about it, Pant wanted a DRS as the on-field umpire declared the batter not out.

Navjot Singh Sidhu was surprised to see Pant asking for the review. “Despite knowing the fact that Sai Kishore is not out, Pant took the DRS. Only a fool can do that. Technology is there to take out the flaws but not for the misuse,” Navjot Singh Sidhu on Star Sports.

Sidhu was proved correct as the third umpire also upheld the on-field official’s decision.
