Justin Langer has been successful as head coach of Australia, but players are not happy with his style. With his current contract as coach set to end in June 2022, chances of him getting an extension are looking dim. During India’s tour Down Under, his intense methods did go down well with the national players.
Last January, the Sydney Morning Herald reported that Cricket Australia had to intervene after players were reluctant to play under his guidance.
According to The Guardian, former England head coach Trevor Bayliss is the favourite to replace the former opener at the end of the latter’s term.
Bayliss gives a free hand to players and has known Pat Cummins since his teenage years. He led England to an Ashes win in 2015 and the World Cup in 2019 in a four-year term. Bayliss has also worked with Sri Lanka, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
