The decision was taken after PCB head Mohsin Naqvi briefed the top leader of the country about the outcome of the meeting between the Pakistan Cricket Board, the International Cricket Council and the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

Notably, Pakistan had refused to play against the arch-rivals in support of Bangladesh, who were removed from the tournament after the ICC rejected their request to shift matches from India due to security concerns.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister also had a word with Sri Lanka’s President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who urged him to change his stance, considering the Island Nation’s loss if the game is cancelled.

“The tournament has started well and you can’t take anything for granted. Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Jasprit Bumrah and Surayakumar Yadav are my favourite players in the Indian team,” Ganguly added.
